Hartiwood Eisteddfod
11 July 2018
212
Langenhoven Pistorius Modihapula Attorneys is a proud sponsor of the 2018 Hartiwood Eisteddfod held at Pretville, Hartbeespoort from 10 to 20 September 2018.
There is a lot of established research about the positive influences from drama, theatre and the performing arts, especially on young people.
The benefits are physical, emotional and social and they help to develop a healthy appreciation of culture and the arts. Look for example at the improvement that drama practice can make to a child's oral communication ability.
There is an emphasis at school on children learning to read and write and rightly so, as these are fundamental skills.
Unfortunately there is not enough attention given to how well children are communicating and how clearly and confidently they are speaking.
If one considers how much we communicate orally, interacting with everybody around us, then it seems odd that schools do not place more emphasis on this valuable skill.
Drama is a handy tool to improve vocal projection, articulation, tone of speech and expression. In short, it teaches young children to speak loudly, clearly and with confidence.
Importantly it also develops listening and observation skills and focus on essential lessons like looking someone in the eye when you talk to them. It is worth stating that all these factors benefit young people through their life.
Our firm recognizes the importance of well-defined oral communication skills.
We believe that the Hartiwood Eisteddfod provides the ideal platform to give learners an opportunity to grow their talent and reach new heights. For this reason we support the Eisteddfod and endorse their vision wholeheartedly.
