Understanding the essence of Mandela Day
Since the rise of democracy, celebrating the iconic man who lead the country to this success is how we as South Africans say thank you. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, from Mvezo, Eastern Cape, is remembered for his selfless contribution to the Apartheid struggle.
His influences of humility have been identified internationally and has lead to the internationally celebrated Mandela Day. The day falls on his birthday, 18 July, and urges the public as well as corporations to spend time contributing to improve the lives of others as part of Mandela’s legacy.
This year’s theme is #100to100, to commemorate 100 years since Nelson Mandela’s birth.
